Helsinki, Finland – November 23rd, 2015 – Umbra announced today that Activision Publishing, Inc. has licensed the Umbra Visibility Solution for use in PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Call of Duty®: Black Ops III, developed by Treyarch. The game is currently available at retailers worldwide.

Umbra’s optimization software makes sure that objects in the game world hidden behind other objects, do not get rendered. The technology boosts rendering performance, helping achieve a smooth frame-rate which Call of Duty® series is known for.

“Video games continue to push the envelope of real-time 3D graphics. Call of Duty: Black Ops III shows best-in-class results in achieving visually stunning results by rendering next-level 3D graphics with smooth frame rates. I’m very proud and happy that Umbra was able to play a part in helping bring these results to consumers,” says Umbra CEO Otso Mäkinen.

Umbra creates an optimized database from your 3D data, whether it is a small game level or a huge architectural model. Umbra processes your data automatically, which means you can give Umbra your geometry as-is without modifying it in any way, or doing any extra work. Umbra’s optimized database can then be used in an application to perform queries.

Umbra runs on virtually any modern CPU and does not depend on any specific hardware or external software. It’s also available for a free evaluation on all major platforms.
